Appearance: It occurs as a white almost white crystalline powder.
Assay:
(A)L-Tartaric acid: Not less than 30.8% and not more than 32.8%. calculated on the anhydrous basis.
(B)L-Carnitine: Not less than 67.2% and not more than 69.2%. calculated on the anhydrous basis.
Identification:
Test (A): Infrared absorption spectrophotometry.

Arsenic: Not more than 1 mg/kg.
