Tyloxapol or Tiloxapol or 4-(1,1,3,3-Tetramethylbutyl)phenol polymer with formaldehyde and oxirane is a non-ionic liquid polymer used mainly as a surfactant, a pharmaceutical excipient, and an experimental research tool. It is injected in laboratory settings to inhibit lipoprotein lipase, creating animal models of hyperlipidemia (high blood fats) and atherosclerosis.

DEFINITION
Tyloxapol is a nonionic liquid polymer of the alkyl aryl polyether alcohol type. [Note— Precautions should be exercised to prevent contact of Tyloxapol with metals.]
